My Chrysanthemum Table

I got this table at a yard sale about 5 yrs ago.

Nothing special.  It was "ok".  I used it for a while and then stuck it into the catch-all room.

I am trying to de-junk the catch-all room and finding all kinds of neat things in there.  So, out comes the table.  Time for a makeover.

I sanded and painted the table.  We made some throw pillows for my daughter the other day and had some fabric left over.  I went through the stash and loved the crysanthemum.  Love the color and design.  I painted the table in a soft creamy white.  Added a little aqua on the pedestal.  Then I used Mod Podge to apply the fabric to the top of the table.

Love it!!!

till next time...........

Dessert First

This Spring I have been busy giving my kitchen a new refreshing look.  I made curtains, recovered my bar stools, gave an old chair a new do and painted the walls.

I had this long cabinet door, leftover from my painting days.  I used to paint these up and make signs from them.  I wanted something over my wide doorway, going into the great room.  This cabinet panel was perfect.

I painted it a soft aqua.  Then I stenciled the raised panel.  I painted some letters I had, to spell out dessert first.  I then hand painted a cute cupcake, with sprinkles and a cherry on top.

Here are a few quick pics I took.  I haven't put it on the wall yet, but I know I'm going to love it.

Powder Room Reveal

Finally, I have completed my powder room makeover.  I still have a few more things I want to add, but for now, it's done!

I didn't think to take before pictures.   Vision small pink roses wallpaper.  Very shabby chic.  I had roses everywhere.  I had a plate holder that held 4 beautiful roses plates.  Katherine Klein prints.  Some of my own art work, roses of course.  My antique dresser, with a spray of roses painted on the drawer.  You get the picture.  A mass of roses.

Fast forward to today.  I have given the room a more modern feel.  We painted the walls a soft silver grey.  I wanted board and batten, but hubby like bead board.  He won out.  Bead board it is.  My daughter found these towels at TJ Maxx and picked them up for me.  I found the hand towels at JCP.

The frame that held my Katherine Klein prints got a makeover too.  I removed the prints.  Painted the frame a high gloss black.  I took the mat and covered it with fabric.  In a coordinating fabric, I fussy-cut some daisies.  Instant art.............

It matches my chair redo perfectly.....

Loving the sunburst mirrors, so had to add one over my dresser.  I added some green pearled marbles around the mirror.

A friend gave me this lamp.  I embellished a cute drum shade.  Love how it turned out.

I found this pretty print on art.com and knew I had to have it.  I added a silver mat to a black frame and it looks perfect.  A cute basket from Home Goods holds the extra hand towels.

My antique dresser was given a makeover too.  I painted the drawers, top and sides grey.  My daughter is going to paint zebra stripes inside the medallion.

My sister had given me this decanter and thought it matched everything going on in here.  I added some daisies.  The candle jar was plain so I added the lattice to the outside to dress it up.  Loving it much better.  My vintage wicker tray holds everything.

And finally, my rug.  Oh, how I love my rug.  A short story about this rug.......my daughter opened her own salon last summer.  We found this rug at Hobby Lobby.  It was perfect for her entrance into the shop.  She bought another one to stand on at her shampoo bowl.  So, I'm looking for a rug for my powder room.  Nothing is jumping out at me.  Then I remembered *the rug*.  I know it is a little outside the box, but I think that way a lot.  It's a leather shag rug.  Thankfully, Hobby Lobby was still selling them.  I grabbed the only one they had.

I still need to find a nice wastebasket and soap dispenser.  I have a few more mirrors I haven't hung on the dresser wall.  My little stool is getting a zebra stripe top (hint, hint, daughter).  Then I can say it's completed.

Sorry this was so long, but there was a lot to show.  Just wished I would have taken the before pics so you could see the drastic change.

till next time...........

My Little Miss Princess

Yesterday we attended the Clark Co. fair.  My great granddaughter, Kayleigh, wanted to be in the pageant.  We signed her up for her age group.

She has always been a little diva.  I love how she has so much self-confidence.  She always has a smile on her beautiful face and a personality over the top.

This was her first pageant.  She came out on stage and won the judges over.  She looked them in the eye and threw both of them kisses.  She must have did something right.  She won!!!!  First place.

She received a little tiara, along with a sash and trophy.  She will represent Clark Co in 2 parades.  One in September and the other in December.

I am so proud of my little princess.

Silver Birdies

Still working on my accessories for my powder room.  I have this cast iron bird bath with 2 little birdies perched on the rim.  I had them painted a chippy white.  A remnant of my shabby chic days.

I sprayed it with chrome metallic paint.  Not quite the look I was going for.  I then applied black acrylic paint to the entire piece.  I did small sections at a time.  I then wiped the excess paint, leaving some in the crevices.  Now it looks like pewter.  Perfect!!!

I'm using it to hold a small candle.  Looks great in my powder room.

Powder Room DIY Chair

I'm in the process of changing up my powder room.  When we built our home, I was really loving shabby chic.  I'm am slowly weaning myself.

I am doing the bathroom in grey, white, black and chartreuse. I am loving these colors.  I will do a post when it's completed.

In the meantime, I wanted to show you this fantastic antique chair.  I bought this a few years ago and had it on my front porch.  Someone accidentally stepped on the seat (my husband) and put a big hole in the middle of it.

I removed the leather seat.  I sanded and painted the chair a crisp white.  My husband cut a piece of plywood for the new seat.  I added  thick foam and covered it with a bright colorful fabric.

It turned out perfect.  I made a sweet pillow with a ruffle and added a rhinestone button for a little bling.  It looks so sweet in my new powder room.

I'm still working on a few accessories.  Can't wait to show you the new room when it's done.
